Take a vow !

No panacea or elixir will suffice and do good until the urgency to eradicate this type of crime emanates from within the very foundation of Republic , we , the people of India.

One eminent person suggesting that her meek submission to the marauders may have avoided her fatal injuries, another ridiculing the protesters as ‘dented and painted’, yet another highly objectionable commen...t from West Bengal simply reflects the sick mind-set of these people at the helm. The flurry of reports of atrocities (read rape) inflicted on women remain on pouring from different parts of India, as the whole India mourns and protests the death of one of the brave but ill-fated daughter of India(and remember it can happen to anyone). Whether this government or the judicial system takes proper steps in safeguarding the women in India remains to be seen, but, the fundamental concept of republic of ‘security and justice’ to its people remains decimated at present.

Let’s leave-alone the blame game, as it will need time to implement several reforms and enforce the severe laws, but, let’s not this process die out so easily, governments have to give in, today or tomorrow they will understand the angst of its people and their concerns. If they can manage the votes for FDI, why not for the law to safeguard the women in India? Do they feel the same urgency? If not, say it aloud (in terms of protests, dharnas etc.) so that even the people at the helm have fear in their heart and act hastily to enforce the law and reforms. United Nation making remarks on this gruesome incident and urging the Indian government to act swiftly to safeguard its people, speaks volume, up to what extent our image have already been dented globally, and how far this current government is able to paint India’s image globally remains to be seen, but, one thing is sure, they have bolstered the demands of the the people of Delhi and India as a whole.

As several steps have already been taken, in terms of the committees and the PILs, we the common people can initiate the process by making a pledge not to spare those who are found engaged in eve-teasing or barbarity on women .Why do we vote for the government successively which has 30% of its MLA’s accused of murder and rape and the enquiry is still on? Let’s take this process one step further by taking the vow of stopping it as far as we can( by changing our mentality of not interfering with the eve-teasers) and let’s stop them. Let’s start from today.

My heartiest tribute to the fateful girl, for stirring our conscience. I remain shocked and grieved for the girl, flabbergasted on the government’s reluctance in handling the issue and saluted to the people of Delhi for weathering all odds in exhibiting their ire, frustration and avidness in bringing prompt justice not only to the brave-hearted girl but the women folk as a whole. May God give her peace in heaven.
RIP Damini………….
